Dental Implants are posts that are surgically positioned into your upper or lower jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge or denture in place. Implants look and feel like natural teeth so they are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. There are three phases of implant treatment:
- Placement of the Implant: surgically places the implant into the jawbone.
- The Healing Process: bone actually grows around the implant and holds it in place. The process is called osseointegration-meaning “combines with the bone.” Several months may be needed until the implant is completely integrated and the replacement tooth/teeth can be attached to the implant.
- Placement of the Prosthesis: (artificial tooth/teeth): A custom tooth/teeth are made based on size, shape, color and fit that will blend with your other teeth. They are then attached to the Implant Posts.
