Our Services

Botox

Botox, also known as Botulinum toxin, is commonly known as a cosmetic treatment for wrinkles and fine lines on the face. However, in recent years, it has also found its way into the field of dentistry. Botox is a safe and effective treatment for a range of dental issues, including temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, bruxism, and other facial pain conditions.

The use of Botox in dentistry has become increasingly popular due to its ability to relax muscles and reduce pain. Botox injections are quick and simple, and their effects can last for several months. Many patients have reported significant improvement in their symptoms after receiving Botox treatment.

One of the most common uses of Botox in dentistry is for the treatment of TMJ disorders. TMJ disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, teeth grinding, and trauma to the jaw. Botox injections can help to relax the muscles that are causing pain and discomfort, reducing the severity of symptoms and improving the patient’s quality of life.

Another common use of Botox in dentistry is for bruxism, also known as teeth grinding. Bruxism can cause a range of dental issues, including worn teeth, jaw pain, and headaches. Botox injections can help to relax the muscles that are responsible for teeth grinding, reducing the frequency and severity of the condition.

Botox can also be used to treat other facial pain conditions, such as trigeminal neuralgia and chronic migraines. In these cases, Botox injections are used to block the release of certain chemicals that cause pain and inflammation.

Overall, Botox is a safe and effective treatment option for a range of dental issues. However, it is important to work with a qualified and experienced dentist who has undergone specialized training in the use of Botox in dentistry. Dentists who use Botox in their practice should have a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and be able to identify the appropriate injection sites to achieve the desired results.

In addition, patients should be aware that Botox is a temporary solution and will need to be repeated every few months to maintain its effects. Patients should also be aware of the potential side effects of Botox, which can include bruising, swelling, and muscle weakness.

In conclusion, Botox is a safe and effective treatment option for a range of dental issues, including TMJ disorders, bruxism, and other facial pain conditions. It is important to work with a qualified and experienced dentist at Appleton Dental Group who has undergone specialized training in the use of Botox in dentistry to ensure the best possible results. With proper care and attention, patients can enjoy improved dental health and a better quality of life thanks to Botox.

Invisalign

Invisalign Treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.

Periodontics

Periodontics focuses exclusively on the inflammatory disease that destroys the gums and other supporting structures around the teeth. Teeth are covered with a sticky film of bacteria called plaque. Brushing and flossing after meals and snacks help to remove plaque. The plaque that is not removed may harden into calculus. When calculus accumulates above or below the gumline, the gum tissue becomes irritated and inflamed. An early stage of periodontal (gum) disease called gingivitis. Symptoms of periodontal disease include persistent bad breath, gums that bleed when teeth are brushed, red, swollen and tender gums, gums that have pulled away from teeth, loose or separating teeth, pus between the gum and teeth and a change in one’s bite.

Keeping gums healthy with regular personal oral hygiene practices (brushing/flossing daily) along with dental exams, teeth cleaning and the necessary dental images (x-ray) are all a comprehensive approach to the prevention of periodontal disease.

Pediatric

Most children are treated by a general family dentist. A general family dentist has a relationship with the entire family and has a great deal of family history knowledge, which may apply to your child. From fillings, dental checkups including fluoride treatments, digital images and growth evaluations, we are here to take care of your child. Don’t wait until there is a problem with your child’s teeth to come see us. Preventative dental care is vital to their oral health. It is very important to maintain baby teeth because these teeth hold space for future permanent teeth. Infected baby teeth can cause permanent teeth to develop improperly, resulting in permanent enamel defects and weaker teeth. To protect your child’s teeth, we recommend:

Regular dental exams and teeth cleanings (every 6 months)
Fluoride treatments to help prevent tooth decay (1-2 times/year)
Necessary digital images (x-ray)
Brushing teeth after meals and snacks
Regular flossing
Sealants placed on permanent molars (6/12 year molars)

Root canals

Root Canal Therapy can save a tooth whose pulp is diseased or damaged. The pulp is the internal part of the tooth that contains the nerves and blood supply. Pulp problems occur when the tooth is decayed or injured so that the pulp is exposed. The pulp becomes inflamed and then becomes infected with bacteria that enters the pulp. The infection can then spread throughout the pulp and into the root canal. It can get to the tip of the root and then invade the bone. An abscess (a pocket of pus) may form, and left untreated, the infection can cause bone loss and tooth loss. A root canal is done to stop the infection by removing the dead or dying tissue so the tooth can be saved.

Implants

Dental Implants are posts that are surgically positioned into your upper or lower jaw to hold a replacement tooth, bridge or denture in place. Implants look and feel like natural teeth so they are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. There are three phases of implant treatment:

Placement of the Implant: surgically places the implant into the jawbone.
The Healing Process: bone actually grows around the implant and holds it in place. The process is called osseointegration-meaning “combines with the bone.” Several months may be needed until the implant is completely integrated and the replacement tooth/teeth can be attached to the implant.

Placement of the Prosthesis: (artificial tooth/teeth): A custom tooth/teeth are made based on size, shape, color and fit that will blend with your other teeth. They are then attached to the Implant Posts.
